Chromosome 5 is another of the “stable” chromosomes, not changing much. The human and chimpanzee versions of this look pretty much the same. Pongo does as well, but has a little extra attached to the end. Going to look for that piece.

I’m starting to think that this “stability” of large chromosomes isn’t so much about stability as it is about chromosome size — there is a size limit, and the pieces that drift from chromosome to chromosome are pretty large, so the large ones don’t have as many options for change as the smaller ones.
